Participate to the official inauguration on Saturday at 9:45AM
The grand inauguration will take place on Saturday September 28 in Bryant Park at 9:45AM. This event, which is open to the public, will take place in the presence of Laurent Fabius, French Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Guillaume Garot, French Minister for food industry.
The ceremony will include the unfurling by 100 French and American young students, of the largest French and American flags in the world (the flags were created in 2007 for a 2,500-people human chain, organized by The French Will Never Forget, on Omaha Beach and were also displayed in Paris on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 as part of the largest such commemoration outside of New York; they are now draped over the U.S. embassy in Paris on every Fourth of July).
The flags unfurling will then be followed by the performance of the U.S. and French national anthems, performed by Sandra Hamaoui, a soprano who is a Franco-American student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. The ribbon cutting will then actually unleash the giant Taste of France Hot Air balloon which will then elevate itself in the air over Bryant Park.
